If you live in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, hail isn’t “if,” it’s “when.” Using NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center (SPC) storm reports (compiled from NWS/local sources), here are the DFW neighborhoods/areas that saw the largest reported hail from 2025 to present:

Biggest hail areas (headline summary)

  • Weatherford: up to 3.00" hail

  • Everman / Far South Fort Worth: up to 2.75"

  • Arlington (Green Oaks / Dalworthington Gardens area): up to 2.50"

  • Millsap: up to 2.50"

  • South Fort Worth / Edgecliff Village: up to 2.25"

  • Grand Prairie / Kennedale / Forest Hill: up to 2.00"

    (Reported on June 1, 2025)

Earlier in the year, March 25, 2025 produced additional claim-worthy hail reports across Dallas, Irving, Euless, Plano, and Richardson, with hail up to 1.75" in the Dallas area.

Why you should file your claim before the 1-year mark

Even when Texas policies allow more time, many homeowners policies include deadlines that can be as short as one year, and timelines vary by carrier and policy form. That’s why we recommend this simple rule:

If you suspect hail damage, start the claim process well before 12 months.

Here’s why waiting hurts homeowners:

  1. Roof damage can be “hidden.” Bruised shingles and fractured seals don’t always show up as leaks right away.

  2. Documentation gets harder. Photos, weather verification, and condition comparisons are easiest right after the storm.

  3. Insurers move faster with clean timelines. The longer the gap, the more likely you’ll hear “wear and tear” arguments.

  4. You want options. Filing early gives you time for a reinspection or supplements without racing a deadline.

Expert Opinion: the best time to file is as soon as you have a professional inspection showing probable hail impact—not when the first leak appears.

What to do if you were in one of these hail zones

  1. Get a roof inspection (photos + documented test squares where needed).

  2. Take photos (gutters, downspouts, soft metals, window screens, staining at vents).

  3. File the claim early (aim well before the 1-year mark).

  4. Don’t replace items prematurely without documentation—your evidence matters.

If you’re in DFW, Pearson Roofing can provide a free inspection and estimate, plus photo documentation that helps you make a clean decision on whether to file.
